|
|
Hi,
A question for BC i guess... but im open to offers!!
Took BC's advice on using Ultra VNC to monitor a Windows Box at home with FaHMon installed to monitor my clients..
I can get it to work easy over my network, but how on earth do i get it to access my machine from over the net
Any ideas ? I have a dynamic IP address from my ISP too, which is Tiscali if that helps.
Cheers,
Rich. _________________ More Power Captain! We Need MORE POWER I Tell You!!

Errr - I didn't advise you to use VNC.
pcanywhere is what I use. Just point it at the IP address of your modem firewall. Set up a route with the pcanywhere ports from your firewall to the machine you want to access as a gateway. Then use cygwin or ssh or pcanywhere or VMWare console to jump between boxes on your net. _________________ - Folding for Fun -

Right... binned off that VNC idea, and replaced it with this :-
www.logmein.com
Sorry if im a little 'behind the times' with this, but it seems to be very good.
It operates through a web browser, go you don't have to worry about setting up I.P addresses and the like... Its also FREE.
Downside is it wont allow you to view Linux systems from Windows systems, but will let you view Windows systems from a linux machine.
All is not lost thou, as if your running Windows, with VMware Server, it will work and let you into the Linux boxs via the windows machine.
Cheers,
Rich.

You might also want to take a look at I'm InTouch - www.01com.com, it is similar to LogMeIn. |
