A lesser known urban legend, but thought I'd share anyhow.
Ni is niht (sounds like knee with a weak T at the end) ... which is Old English for the word NIGHT. If you've ever tried to read Old English, good luck.
Night and Knight didn't rhymm back then (and consistent spelling, enunciation, & literacy was all over the map anyhow). So leave it to these Cambridge/Oxford boys to make a modern day word play, as in today's dictionary both Night and Knight phonetically spell as "(nit)."
So.... another layer of humor is they're saying "We are the Knights who say Knight," except they're using an alternate enunciation. Sort of like saying "We are the po-TA-tos that say po-TAT-o." This of course is painful to the ears, hence the reaction of King Arthur and his band.
I think they scripted it as "Ni" just to avoid insufferable confusion.

Don't confuse this thread! Or maybe we should just forget about that...
I forgot already, so I'll just declare myself the winner! _________________
