Hmm, gets evil idea Could always alpha test a new optimized client, and due to reasons of limited distribution deliver it only to the team Course any code optimizations would have to eventually get out, but only after it's been thoroughly tested, yadda, yadda _________________

Actually Fang,
I'm starting to have a little free time again (it should last about two weeks before we have our next bonkers session at work), shoot me an email with where I can get the source code for the new application you were talking about and I'll start poking at the PS3 again, and see about making an opti-app or two (for CPUS) for us to test here.
Cheers,

It was just be a closed test to KWSN only.
Seems fair to me.

Yeah, even a few day's lead time with "can you help me test this software before I open it to the public" with a "few known friends" could make a fair amount of RAC
/remembers the effects of Einstein's optimized client then whisles on by
The RAC differences between the 2 teams aren't that great to begin with looking at boincstats
http://boincstats.com/stats/team_stats.php?pr=genetic&st=0
Quote: | 0 0 0 4 BOINC@AUSTRALIA 5,211,212 2,724 21,316 121,119 4,111
5 4 0 5 The Knights Who Say Ni! 3,080,082 117,393 736,692 1,646,336 82,489 28
1 1 0 6 Free-DC 2,892,757 0 0 0 28 - |
Now, 82,000 RAC vs 4,000 RAC... Of course a new optimized client as a headway to some new app tweaking, followed by a nice friendly taunt might just be what the doctor ordered. Can I ever be evil sometimes, in a funny sorta way :rofl _________________

Did someone mention testing an optimized app? Count me in _________________

If we're talking about just GenLife re: Oz, then count me in. I must admit that I was originally thinking about BOINC Overall, where our case is a bit more hopeless (i.e. a typical KWSN reverse pass tanuting strategy).
Now that we've passed Free-DC in GenLife I've moved some of my slower shrubbers onto Poem (a place gain in the offing), NQueens (not too far behind the Kows), Lattice (they've actually got some work at the mo, and we're not far behind Team Sci-Fi, followed by, would you credit it, the Kows) and Virtual Prairie, where some young whippersnapper has been snapping at my whippers recently and actually had the temerity to take my birthright #1 in the UK, so I need to teach him a lesson while there's some work available.
But if there's a tanut to fulfill, all that can go back to GenLife in a trice or two.

@Sir AD,
I've been pumping up Nqueens for a bit thinking I could pass them cheeseburgers in training in a month or so, if you are hopping on the train then it should happen much sooner!

I'd been keeping an eye on you in NQueens & Sir Tux in Poem, so thought I'd lend a hand now PotM primary objective's been achieved. I've had a couple of boxes looking for Lattice work for a while now, and when some arrived a couple of days ago, noticed that there are 3 slumbering teams nicely placed just 40k above us, so threw a bit more at it.
Any other assistance gratefully appreciated; there's nearly 90 Vault points on offer.

As soon as we pass the kows in nqueens I'll refocus for poem, and I never seem to get much lattice but I'll bump it up a bit in priority and see if it'll send me some. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Over 110K points each of the last two days...
Milestones for last two days:
John Galt 007 passes 400,000
KWSN - Sir Brian - err sorry - wrong film! passes 250,000
KWSN-Sir Papa Smurph passed 200,000
Adam Alexander passed 200,000
KWSN - Sir Tux of Flanders passes 30,000
LanDroid passed 30,000
5 is RIGHT OUT passes 1,000
Nuadormrac passed 200
Top reasons NOT to back down on Genetic Life:
1. It's run by a Kanigit.
2. The more points we pile on, the longer we'll stay in 5th place.
3. Our RAC is bound to attract attention shortly.
4. Four.
5. We're assisting in the evolution of digital critters - a creative, scientific, and completely safe use of our computer resources. |

See, now at current rates, here's boinc@australia

A day ago it estimated 28 days to overtake, after the rollover of stats, it dropped it to 26. It's going the way of my somewhat confused BOINC client which thought it's first astropulse WU with SETI would take 228 hours to complete at first, but at under 7.5 hours processing dropped the estimate down to 161 hours with 4-5 seconds comming off per second. Well OK, maybe not that fast. But ATM we just totally have a massive RAC advantage on these guys. The only thing they have going for them is a big credit lead And by RAC advantage, I don't mean just 2 or 3x their RAC, but rather it's like 21.7x the credit turn in from yesterday, etc _________________
