Thanks, Crazy. I didn't think of that. In fact I thought that it didn't have a fuel filter because it's fuel injected and doesn't have a carby like my older cars had. You learn something new every day!

I think that might have helped!  Hamish has weakened, and looks likes a category 2 at some stage tomorrow if not before. It also looks like the old fella is doing a u-turn and heading north again.
Still very gusty wind here tonight and forecast for the next couple of days at least, but at least Hamish managed to avoid the coastline while he was a category 5 and 4. That's the best part and there's a heck of a lot of people very relieved now.

I'm bedded down at Mama Rosita's Burrito Blowout at Sandy Cape. I'm munchin' bean burritos, lashed to concrete stool, and have my ass facing the water  .
I blew a few Aussies into the ocean, killed most of the sea birds and there's more than a few dead pets lying about, but to make an omelet you've got to break some eggs  . Sandy Cape may be unhabitable by the time I'm through but it's a small price to pay. I can't even to begin to describe what my shorts look like  .
I got that twister pretty much where I want it, tracking parallel to land. As long as they don't run out of beans all should end well .

Thanks, Farty! Great job! You not only kept it off the coast, you killed it with the power of the stench.
As for the car, I managed to get it in to a mechanic on Thursday afternoon and it turned out to be a coil. All fixed and ready to load up and evacuate...um...oh well, at least it will be ready for the next one.
