Just found an odd thing about BoincView. It keeps its log files (on by default) in the Program Files directory-- Not Good. I found this while tracking down what kept adding to the size of my C: drive back-ups. It can be changed via Options/Preferences/Logs.
The Windoze bug was in deleting the old log files. There were 3000+ files, when I deleted them, they deleted OK- but for some reason it used Virtual Memory (which was not released afterward). All of a sudden I was getting a "Low Memory" warning- which with 4 GB of ram and 7 GB of pagefile I don't see often. Had to re-boot.

Windows was probably just keeping the files in memory so you could undo the delete operation.
There are no bugs in Windows, only features.

I am sitting with 4 comps within reach and I currently have 9 hard drives of various sizes stacked up next to me. Almost everything of value that I have is in multiple places.

Ps: I also do my own auto repairs.

I love it! The old "I know that file is here someplace" back-up system.

Do you also keep your tax records in shoe boxes?
Wink (Just teasing).
I have 8 systems that I don't really backup because they are just clones of each other (easy to do with Linux, same disk image will start up and run on almost any similar HW (unlike Windoze that requires "just so" drivers and licenses). If you look at my shrubbers you will notice that 7 of them use the same SW version- for a reason, they all boot from a common image.

I read somewhere about running multiple boards off of one hard drive and folding. Someday I would like to set up a rack of boards and do the same with Q6600's. I keep thinking that I will have to custom make a power supply as well.

Re: tax records: I do have them in a file (somewhere) back to about 1988 I think
