looking for an attorney to assist us with setting up a
charitable 503(c) foundation which will handle fundraising operations
for the SETI@home project.

Having just gone through a lot of similar stuff getting added to a 501 (c) (Cool for my Knights Of Columbus Council, good luck to the person that takes that job. By the way what they are looking for is a 501(c) (3).
