Ni!

I was so excited to get to my 2,000,000th Shrub this last weekend until I had an unexpected guest. Ike. Hurricane Ike. If you have never seen one up close. Be glad. I stayed at home under mandatory evacuations, mistake. I live on the water, with a boat house. We took on 13 feet of water during the surge. I live 14 feet about the mean water level! I took over 500 pictures from my home and HD videos.

Pray for our families and always remember to be generous when it comes to giving. Bad things can happen to good people.

I live just to the left of picture #8 on the water, on a canal in Seabrook. Most of those homes are now gone.

If you look at my albums do so by date. MAke sure to click on the more videos from user on the right.

I should hit 2,000,000 shrubs today now that one computer is back up.

Ni!

I live in Seabrook on the top left. #11 and #13 are in Gilchrist and Bolivar Penninsula on the lower right. Too close for comfort.

Thankfully my house only lost some banana trees.

Good thing we don't get storms like

Our huricanes and things like the Tsunami that struck the Indian Ocean several years back, are bad enough...

I lived through one when I was young. It was after (I think blizzard of 1976, though at that time in my life I remember the experiences/images more then time frames), when we got hit by either Huricane Fred, or Charollete would it have been around that time? We were pretty much stuck in the house most of the time, except for the time my parents decided to take a walk when the eye of the storm was over us. The streets were flooded with the water rushing down the sewers. It was a long several days indoors, in an age where unlike today one doesn't have 3 video game systems and 500+ channels on the TV Surprised Was not exactly plesant.

I remember The "Blizzard of 76"

I opened the front door and snow was all the way up to the top of the door. I had to get out the garage door. There were drifts 8 feet deep in my yard.

I didn't get the driveway shoveled that year, at all....

One of the worst storms I have experienced was when we were vacationing in Vermont one year when I was a kid. We were supposed to stay in the house, but instead was in an old, rickety cabin. The first night, both the thunder and the lightning were bad (I've never experienced thunder as loud or bad as that). It was also the year that our Alaskin Malemute became afraid of thunder (it never bothered her before we vacationed that year).

When there was report of the storm comming back for a return, my parents packed the car and called vacation short, concerned that the cabin couldn't survive another hit, and would surely be washed into the ocean the next time.
