Having missed Pi Day (yesterday), may I present a well-reasoned argument that Pi is WRONG.

Not the value of Pi (3.14...), but the concept, and that a value of 2.Pi (6.28...) would be much more elegant.

Of course, this has nothing whatever to do with the fact that I was born on 2.Pi Day.... Laughing

The fact that Pi is 180 degrees electrically has bugged me for years, but most electrical engineers are used to plugging in 2Pi by now.

No no no ... it just doesn't make any difference. I'll explain ...

Start with: X = Y
multiply both sides by X: X*X = X*Y
subtract Y^2 from both sides: X^2 - Y^2 = X*Y - Y^2
do some factoring: (X+Y)*(X-Y) = Y*(X-Y)
divide both sides by (X-Y) and cancel: (X+Y) = Y
substitute Y for X: (Y+Y) = Y
divide by Y and simplify: 2 = 1

... and therefore 1*Pi = 2*Pi. Very Happy

That's easy. Hit ground real hard. Deceleration is complete.

Remember: The fall is nothing- it's the rapid stop at the end that is the problem.

One of the signs of a "true" alcoholic is the ability to fall down, bust the H** out of them selves and not spill their drink!

No, but he was a friend of mine. Wink

I am the smart-arse who decided to test out his new finding by substitution. It went something like ... no ... on second thought, I'd best not go there right now. Maybe later! Smile
