Welcome Cohiba to the team! I got him to stick a linux box online as well. He is now #3 on the team right behind my computer at work. I also did a little analysis of the program and realized that it is updating things by sending a plain-text HTTP POST to the server. Luckily they have some key parameter that prevents you from easily faking an uptime report however it DOES include your password - in plain text. So do notuse a password that is important for anything else on this project! |

And I had to join just to knock MacG out of 2nd place. I know we've got some people who have boxes with much longer uptimes than 59 days. Someone knock me down. _________________ KWSN Forum Admin

So there was a bunch of activity last night on uptime project. Even Lizard got into the spirit and attached a few machines. I ended up putting another server here at work on the project. Unfortunately the linux uptime rollover "bug" bit me so instead of 650 days it only shows 153 days (in Linux the counter that counts how long the box has been up rolls over to 0 once every 497 days, 2 hours, 27 minutes and 53 seconds) |

Well this is resurrecting an ancient thread... but uptime-project just went offline. They sent out an email a while ago forewarning us that they would go offline on March 1st and it has come to pass.
A moment of silence for the passing of a project.
And now back to our regularly scheduled looniness.
