Only the frame went into the hold , but the motor was taken apart and distributed . There was very little problem with collecting the bits at the other end as over half the passengers were fron the same Motor Cycle club Smile
No single part was over 10 lbs I seem to remember . This bike was well and truly stripped down! The bike was an off road special not avialiable in the UK

Well good news. Thanks to all of your suggestions and some craftiness by my sister-in-law we were able to get all of the stuff for my parents and all of our personal things into 7 checked bags (one of them was the box with the vacuum cleaner and some other things in it) and 2 carry ons. They were all almost exactly 50 pounds.
