It has a Celeron 500MHz processor with 128K cache and 384M RAM. The hard-drive is about 10Gb.

There was a time, not too long ago, when I was getting errors on nearly two out of three work units. That has all been fixed.

I had a problem like that when I first tried to start BOINCing.
On the help forum at the BOINC site, I found a thread that described a solution that worked for me:

If you're on dial-up, you'll definitely WANT to do the upgrade by CD...
